The Final Show

Collections and Belongings.

Kate Stewart.

Having developed a passion for documentary photography, my current

interests centre on the memorabilia and personal ephemera displayed in

people’s lives. My approach is relentless, as I attempt to portray the

identity and personality of the individual through their belongings. My

project encompasses carefully chosen photographs of objects from a

selection of people’s habitats, conveying a sense of their day-to-day

lives and interests.

By focusing on their home environments, my work reveals individual

personalities not only through their possessions, but the way those

possessions are displayed. My objective in this series of works is to

invite the viewer to reconsider the act of looking at photography as

merely a passive engagement into one of a deeper connection to the world

we live in.

This is a magazine I created for my degree. I really enjoyed the whole process and like seeing how my photography and journalism skills can come together along with a great circle of talented people to report on.
